Founder and Clinical Director, Doctor of Medical Science, Master of Science in PA Medicine, Bachelor of Exercise Science and Kinesiology, Board Certified Physician Associate, Medical Acupuncturist, Certified Integrative Psychiatry Provider, and Certified Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Practitioner-pending completion June 2025.
Deborah has been in the healthcare industry since 1989, promoting health through education and empowerment. She first received a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology in Canada followed by TCM acupuncture in 2004. She owned and operated a community wellness clinic in rural Manitoba collaborating with First Nation communities, the Canadian Armed Forces and Manitoba Regional Health Authority to deliver integrative health solutions. She moved to Guadalajara, Mexico to commence allopathic training at UAG School of Medicine then transitioned to New York to complete a Master of Science in PA studies. During her thesis year, she facilitated research in Guatemala working with comadronas (traditional midwives) in preventing and treating postpartum hemorrhage. She practiced in NY and NJ, gaining valuable experience in pain management, physical medicine, primary and integrative medicine. Dr. Thorne continued her professional advancement through the University of Lynchburg in Virginia, facilitating a fellowship in emergency medicine while completing her doctoral degree. In 2022 she studied with world renowned Japanese acupuncturist, Kiiko Matsumoto, learning an integrative approach to acupuncture. Additionally, Dr. Thorne completed a second fellowship in integrative psychiatry that approaches mental health from a holistic perspective, utilizing food, lifestyle, plant medicines, and psychedelics. She has extensive training and experience working with ketamine and psilocybin therapy.
Hector Lerma

Internal Medicine
Dr Lerma is an Internal Medicine Physician, and a Co-Founder of Medicina del Sol. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Guadalajara Mexico and facilitated his Internal Medicine Residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center at Richmond University Medical Center in New York City, Veterans Affairs in Salem, Virginia and LewisGale Hospital in Blacksburg, Virginia. Early in his career, Dr Lerma attended the University of Houston and acquired his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. In his spare time, Dr Lerma enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, flying lessons and appreciating music and cuisine of the great southwest.
Circling back to her indigenous roots of Manitoba, she acknowledges the valuable teachings of her Ojibwe and Cree Elders. They taught her to respect and honor traditional healing methods by way of plant medicine, songs and prayers.
